There are a few NEW things for the 2016/2017 school year! We’ll have some new incentives, some new projects, and some new ways to stay motivated.
Tentative ARC check in dates are 10/14/16 (7), 12/16/16 (13), 2/17/17 (20), and April (25) is TBD based on FSA scheduling.
Reading Incentives are for NEW independent reads with a little assistance on words/concepts (not read to them). Didn’t know there are THREE programs?
SRC (Superintendent’s Reading Challenge) is open to everyone. Students read & log 25 books on their independent level by the end of February for a Final Reading Dress Down Day Pass and a Certificate from Lake County. (VERY EASY)
The Million Word Campaign is open to everyone. Similar guidelines to SRC, but students total their “Word Count” too with a goal of 1,000,000. Finishers receive SRC rewards, PLUS Midpoint & Final Reading Dress Down Day Passes. (MEDIUM)
ARC (Advanced Reading Challenge) is open to students in FIRST to eighth grade who complete projects showing deep understanding of 25 BOOKLIST books. Students may read from higher lists, so a sixth grader can read from the 5-6, 7-8, or Advanced lists, but not the Junior or 3-4 lists. ARC finishers receive SRC rewards, PLUS four Dress Down Passes & Check-In Parties, and the end of the year field trip. *3rd to 8th grade finishers also receive a $50 Barnes & Noble gift card. (MOST CHALLENGE/REWARD)
